The public is being advised to exercise caution amid a surge in the number of scam messages and emails circulating ahead of Christmas.

The HSE confirmed there has been a rise in the number of scam texts relating to the health services and Covid-19 in recent times, with people receiving false notification that they have been the close contacts of a positive Covid-19 case.
