PUNE: The Chatushrungi police are investigating a cheating case in which the suspects duped a retired assistant commissioner of police (ACP) to the tune of Rs 49,000 on July 3, 2021.
According to the police, the retired officer, a resident of Baner, received a call saying he has not updated his KYC formalities with his bank.
The caller said if the KYC formalities are not updated, his account will be frozen.
Following this, the caller sent him a text message asking him to update the KYC formalities online. The retired ACP clicked on the link and filled the form.
The caller then asked him to share an OTP for further process. He shared the OTP after which the suspects siphoned off Rs49,000 from his bank account.
