The West Bengal Police department shared the meme along with an informational post about the new scam. The tweet said, “New Scam Alert! Read the post below and protect yourself from losing money!”
As per reports, a new scam has come to light where the fraudster will send some money into people’s accounts, following which they will call them and urge them to send it back. If someone agrees to send the amount, the entire fund will be withdrawn from their account.
To alert people, West Bengal police said in the post: “There is a new scam in the air. The fraudster will send some money to your account and will call you and claim that it has been sent mistakenly and will ask you to send it back. Once you agree, in many ways they will siphon off the entire fund from your account.”
West Bengal Police also urged people to report the matter to their nearest police station and collect the amount.
“If such a situtation occours, ask them to meet you at your local PS and collect the amount!”, West Bengal police said on Sunday.
