The I-R-S says this is the time scam calls are on the rise.
If you get a call from a person or a recording saying you owe the I-R-S money and you could go to jail, it’s a scam.
Another tax scam has people posing as charity organizations or disaster relief.
Other calls may be faked to show the caller I-D coming from a legit agency.
But the I-R-S says never answer or give money to any of these callers.
