MOHALI: The Punjab vigilance bureau during the interrogation of former forest minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot learnt that the forest scam involves many then ministers, IFS officers and other forest department officials.
In line with this, vigilance also discovered that arrested DFO Guramanpreet Singh has amassed wealth disproportionately beyond his capabilities. Sources in vigilance said that the bureau is all set to register a fresh FIR against DFO Guramanpreet Singh for a disproportionate assets case.
The former forest minister was produced in the court in Mohali which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
Punjab Vigilance Bureau here on June 2 arrested district forest officer Mohali Gurmanpreet Singh and Contractor Harmahinder Singh alias Hammi for accepting a bribe of Rs 2,00,000 in lieu of favouring Davinder Singh Sandhu owner of the company, WWICS Estate Pvt. Ltd. at Masaul village and Tanda, Mohali district for his projects.
Sources in vigilance said that in this regard vigilance has issued summons to various DFOs to explain their stand on the case as Guramanpreet has revealed the involvement of many forest officers in the case. Vigilance has also taken into custody the records of many forest officers pertaining to the case, said the sources.
