MECOSTA COUNTY — The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office has issued a fraud alert after receiving a complain about an email scam.
According to a news release, the department is investigating an incident of fraudulent emails being sent to a business’ customer requesting payment by clicking on a link.
“None of the information was correct including the requested amount owed,” the news release stated.
The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to be cautions when online. When in doubt, contact the business directly and obtain confirmation.
