Claiming to be innocent and not involved in the bond scam, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Ravi Karunanayake said that it was Leader of the United National Party (UNP) who overlooked all the banks and financial institutions.
He made this statement during a media brief yesterday (11).
“I am not involved in the Central Bank Bond Scam, it was the former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that overlooked the Central Bank, the local banks and also other financial institutions. It was Ranil Wickremesinghe who even appointed Arjuna Mahendran as the governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka,” said Karunanayake.
He further added that he is not aware on the transactions that took place or how the dollar transactions were organised, and added that he is appalled by how people can do such fraudulent acts.
“To date, no one knows what exactly happened with the court case or how the dollar transactions happened. This is how people wear white suits and do politics,” he concluded.
