Doha: With so much of banking activities now done on computers and smartphones, it is important that those services are secure. Advancement in technology has led to increase in online scams. Banks in Qatar have been reminding its customers to be vigilant of fraudulent messages and not to share sensitive security information on their social media platforms.
Doha Bank, in a message, advised its customers to remain alert and not reveal sensitive information. “Be careful of scam SMS calls impersonating major postal/courier companies and advertisements of popular retail outlets/food chains on social media offering discounts wherein you will be asked to click malicious link for payment/availing discount,” said the message by Doha Bank.
Commercial Bank in a statement sent through an email to its customers titled ‘The smart way to prevent fraud is in your hands’. The email said “Commercial Bank has introduced CBsafe ID, an additional security feature on their CBQ Mobile App. Commercial Bank is the first Bank in Qatar to offer this service, providing a unique method to protect you from fraudulent calls”.
“Using the CBQ Mobile App, you will be able to identify legitimate calls from the Bank, ensure caller authenticity and reduce the chances of fraudsters gaining access to your information.
