Woman Buys Gift Cards During Scam Attempt
BEAVER SPRINGS –State police are investigating a report of a woman buying $7,000 in gift cards after being told she had fraudulent charges on a credit card.
The Beaver Springs woman got phony Microsoft and Discover Card alerts and was told she could resolve them by buying $7,000 in Lowes Home Improvement Store gift cards and giving the money to Discover and Microsoft.
State Troopers ask local residents to be aware of this ongoing scam. They say local citizens should be aware if someone asks them for gift cards as payment, as it is most like a nefarious scheme. This investigation is still ongoing.
