An Oswego resident lost $1,500 while attempting to take out a loan, according to Oswego police.
In a statement, police said the lender told the victim to purchase Walmart debit cards and send them to the lender. In exchange, police said the victim received fraudulent checks.
Police were notified of the incident at 1 p.m. Aug. 10 and are investigating.
