Kerala CPI(M) threatens whistleblower for exposing bridge construction scam
Kannur, May 6 (UNI) Kerala CPI(M) workers has issued threatened a man who exposed the irregularities in the reconstruction of a bridge at Vattakulam through social media, the victim’s mother said on Friday.
“My son Lijesh was threatened to kill within three days by CPI(M) Vattakulam branch secretary TP Pavithran”, said Leela, mother of Ligesh who exposed irregularities through Facebook.
She also said that the threat was publicly made by Pavithran in the presence of Payyannur Circle Inspector of police.
The Payyanur municipality had sanctioned Rs 7 lakh in 2019 for the reconstruction of the bridge with 7.5 metre length and 5.5 metre width.
However, it was not completed as per the dimensions in the contract.
This was questioned by Ligesh to the CPI(M) leaders and ward councilors.
Following this, Pavithran and others assaulted Lijesh near Kandankali temple premises on April 27.
Ligesh filed a complaint before Payyanur police and police arrested four CPI(M) workers including TP Pavithran, Shibu, Kailesh and Ajith on the charges of assaulting Lijesh and another man Suresh for posting a message in Facebook about the irregularities in the reconstruction the bridge.
