Have you started your holiday shopping? Before you head to the store or log on for online browsing, I have some tips to help you get the most for your money this year.
Start off by making a budget. How much can you spend this year? Then make a list of people you want to give presents. Estimate how much you will spend on each person. Work up a list for each person. This will keep you focused.
Next, do your research. Check store flyers and websites to compare prices. Some websites have a price comparison tool and some sellers offer coupons or codes on their website to help you save money. Shopping apps also offer coupons and comparison tools. But you should read reviews before downloading the app. Check for price matching — some retailers will match a lower price if you find the item cheaper at another store.
When buying at a brick-and-mortar store, find out what the return, refund, and exchange policies are before making a purchase. This will help you determine if the recipient can make a return if needed. The policy should be posted in the store not just printed on the receipt, so you know your rights before you buy. Check receipts to confirm that you were charged the advertised price. Keep all receipts in case the recipient needs to make an exchange.
