Columbia County Scam Costly for Valley Woman |

CATAWISSA – One Columbia County police department is out with a story of a local woman scammed out of $35,000. Police in Catawissa received a report for a who said she was checking her emails from her home computer, and saw a “Security Message” appear on her computer screen telling her to contact Microsoft.

The victim did so, was told that her computer was hacked. The victim was told she had to cover some fraudulent credit card charges by buying gift cards from Lowes, Home Depot and JC Pennys.
