At a time when big-budget films are struggling to get viewers to theatres, Jamtara Sabka Number Ayega Season 2 is a reminder that stories narrated with authenticity, detailing and precision will always tick. Picking up from its maiden season, the second instalment kickstarts with a wide angle of a series of phishing activities being planned in Jamtara, Jharkhand.

“Daakuo ka time gaya, abhi hum jaha ja rahe hai na, wo hai aaj kal ke dacait, wahi hai bakait,” an apt introduction to the story and its premise, highlighting the penetration of the phishing operations across the country. A whole gang is at work – arranging IDs to score SIM cards. It’s a network of people, mostly school dropouts, working day and night to scam people. It’s about the calls that people receive on a daily basis – cash backs, discounts, bank offers and more – in short, all the calls probing people for their personal data – and the nexus handling the phishing schemes that go beyond it all.

To pick up from the first season, Sunny Mondal (Sparsh Shrivastava) is hospitalised, his wife Gudiya Mandal (Monika Pawar) is now contesting an election against Brajesh Bhan (Amit Sial).
